I don’t really believe in cleanses. I ascribe to the eat delicious real foods, make sure to get lots of fruits and veggies, but also eat that pizza when you need to diet. But last week I had access to a juicer and got the urge to give this juice cleanse thing a try.
My experiment went surprisingly well! I went full juice for 3 days, and while I kind of hate to admit it, I felt amazing. Its true what they say, you end up with loads of energy and are not in fact dying of hunger for three days straight. Oddly enough, when I went back to eating solid food I actually missed my juice for a few days!
If you’ve ever been tempted to do one, I say go for it. Even just a 3 day was such a worthwhile experiment.
3 Days of Green Juice
The following makes enough juice for 3 days, drinking 3 bottles per day (to trick myself into being excited about eating/drinking nothing but juice for 3 days, I purchased a set of adorable juice bottles from Amazon so that even if it was disgusting it would still be cute).
2 Bunches Celery
2 Bunches Kale
2 Bunches Spinach
2 Cucumbers
8 Green Apples
6 Kiwis
2 Lemons
1 2in chunk ginger
Throw all the ingredients in a juicer (we used the Breville Juice Fountain, and it worked like a champ!) and enjoy!
