Like many straight haired girls, I have been searching for a way to create the perfect beach wave look for years. I’ve finally gotten it down to a near science; the right curling iron, the right process and *almost* the right salt spray. I say almost, because I have used many that have been so close to right, but either had too much salt or too little (Herbivore’s Lavender Mist Sea Salt Beach Wave Mist was so, so close but didn’t provide enough texture to support an all-day wave in my fine hair).
This week I decided to experiment with making my own salt spray, and it turned out great! It was incredibly simple and inexpensive, and allowed me to control the salt content and fragrance. This recipe provides just enough texture to hold a wave, while still being touchable.
Sea Salt Spray Recipe
10oz Mineral Water
1tbsp Aloe
3tbsp Epsom Salt
2tbsp Sea Salt
1tsp Coconut Oil
3-4 Drops of Your Favorite Essential or Fragrance Oil (I used Kummba Made, Persian Garden)
Bring ingredients to a rolling boil in a small sauce pan. Let boil for 4 minutes. Remove from heat. When cooled, pour into fine mist spray bottle.
This made approximately 9oz of salt spray, which I divided into 3 3oz bottle for home and travel.
